Nowadays, going abroad for studies is enjoying astriking popularity among adolescents. Importanceshould be attached to studying abroad. There are a great many advantages of studying overseas. First and foremost, living andstudying abroad offers students a different perspective of the world. On a university campus,international students are likely to encounter their counterparts from various countries andareas and are exposed to diverse ideas and values. What is more, overseas experience is thebest opportunity for the real-life use of foreign languages. There is no better opportunity toimprove second-language skills than living in the country in which it is spoken. Generally peaking, it is my view that although going abroad is expensive and perhapspainful, the payoff is worthwhile. In the first place, in addition to knowledge, overseasstudents can gain precious experiences that those who stay at home will never hermore, overseas experience, frustrating and painful as it may be, is conducive to thegrowth of adolescents.

My View On TV Shopping

Nowadays, with the fast development of mass media networks,

people are experiencing unprecedented convenience of handling daily matters.

TV shopping programs, for example, have made shopping so simple that it has become a fashion and trend that we can hardly resist.

However, everything can be a double-edged sword and TV shopping program is no exception.

TV shopping has its advantages.

Firstly, it is very convenient for consumers to make their purchase without going out and walking wearily from one shop window to another.

Secondly, compared with paper advertisements,

TV shopping programs show us the goods more vividly. When it comes to disadvantages, it seems that we, as consumers, can hear and see what is presented, but stand a narrow chance of knowing for sure what the goods are really like, and sometimes these salesmen just sweet talk us into buying what we do not need or something of poor quality. While making good use of TV shopping programs, we should be rational about what is advertised on TV and spend our money in a reasonable and cost-effective way.

My View on Major Ranking

In recent years, it is very popular to rankmajors. Major ranking lists based on a variety ofcriteria can be found on some educational websitesor newspapers. These lists have great influence onstudents and many of them have come to rely onthese lists to make their major-choice decisions.

To this phenomenon, people’s opinions vary from each other. Some think that the resultsof the ranking are helpful for high school students to choose a major field of study, e.g., somelists tell people what majors will lead to decent jobs after graduation. Some people, however,believe that many lists are actually useless. Rankings are only about numbers and they do nottell you anything about the distinct nature of the major. Besides, some majors may be listed ashot majors when students enter colleges, but will be unpopular when they graduate.

As far as I’m concerned, we should not over-stress major ranking. It should beremembered that rankings can play a big role in the selection of a major but it should not bethe only criterion. Many factors including your own perception of the major should matter inyour final choice.
